Choral 20G/30S/40S (MUCH 20G/30S/40S)
This course allows students to develop their musical skills and appreciation through the performance of choral music. The selections which are performed represent a broad range of musical periods and styles. Specific elements of music theory and music appreciation will be learned through the study of this repertoire. Students will be required to participate in and attend a number of concerts and festival performances throughout the term.(Prerequisite for MUCH 30S is MUCH 20G; Prerequisite for MUCH 40S is: MUCH 30S)

Students in these courses will work on more modern music and musicals with the goal of
enhancing performance. Opportunities will be given for development in both choral and solo abilities. Evaluation is based on the development and presentation of skills as taught in the course. (Prerequisite: MUCH 20G/30S)
Vocal Jazz 25G/35S (VJAZZ 25G/VJAZZ 35S)
These courses are by invitation/audition only and run for the entire year. They allow students to further develop musical skills and appreciation through the genre
of vocal jazz. Students who take this course must be enrolled in MUCH 20G/30S/or 40S and/or MUCH 21G/31G/41. Students will broaden their singing experiences through learning a wide range of special vocal jazz techniques, including vocal improvisation (scat singing), as well as some history and
theory. Students will be required to attend and participate in a number of school concerts and festival performances.
Pembina Trails Voices 11S, 21S, 31S, 41S
Pembina Trails Voices provides an enriched and challenging choral opportunity for the singer who wishes to explore advanced choral literature, and to sing with other students who have a very high standard of performance. Throughout the PTV experience, whether making music in the rehearsal hall, on the performance stage, or on tour, the student will be encouraged to develop musical independence, to hone listening and aural skills, to tackle music reading at an advanced level, and to practice advanced vocal technique. Expressive and communicative skills and adaptability as a performer are also goals in this course.
Students enter the PTV program through an auditioning process. Rehearsals are held at Canadian Mennonite University Monday evenings, as well as one Saturday morning per month. PTV members are expected to attend all rehearsals plus three PTV concerts, as well as other scheduled performances, festivals and tours.
